They were travelers, wanderers, nomads in search of a new place to call home. No one was sure how long they had been wandering or for what reason, only that it had been a long hindersome journey. There were many deaths along the way and innumerable people who had been separated from there families during the evacuation, but it had all been worth it if not to just catch a glimpse of what would be their new home. All the waiting, hoping, and suffering was finally at an end. They stared at the planet its beauty mesmerizing to them, how long it had been since they had just seen vegetation, trees, grass. Not the artificial hologram imagery that was scattered through out the ship no this was the real thing. Things finally were looking up; everything felt right once again, it felt like what they had left behind, it felt like home…..

In the year 2015 a small frigate carrying 2,135 people fled earth in escape of an unknown disaster. It is speculated by many that it may have been a nuclear holocaust or an invasion from a neighboring planet but the details are unknown and will remain so for some time. This group of travelers spent many years exploring the galaxy in search of a new planet to populate. It was after sometime that they came across a small planet very similar to earth in geography called Akara. Determined to stay and make this their new home they landed only to be fired on by hostile unknown forces. It was only until later that they figured out that Akara itself was amidst its own world war....

It is recorded that in the 2014 a galactic mandate was passed that all planetary colonies be evacuated and relocated to Akara. This was put into action by law enforcement officers who evacuated all the planets in such a quick and forceful manner that many hadn’t a clue what was going on, and were separated from their families in the process. Some planets that were not quick enough to respond, like earth, were left behind when the order to jump to the relocation site was given. And so planets as such were forced to fend for themselves until they found Akara or died in the process. With more and more people, from literally across the galaxy coming in each day things began to get crowded. Eventually with such a mix of different beings and new ones arriving each year, tension began to build and this inevitably erupted in a world war.

... Completely outnumbered and lacking in proper technology and weapons the last of earths survivors were forced to flee in order to ultimately prevent an inventible gruesome death. And so they hid in the mountains, far away from where the tides of war raged on. With no way to get home, limited food and supplies, and no knowledge of the area it seemed that they were doomed.

It was a few years after their arrival when all seemed hopelessly lost that earth’s survivors came across another small clan of the native area, who were in much the same predicament as themselves. Both parties seeing the potential benefit and power they could gain from each other formed an alliance and began to work on a top secret project that would become known as MAVERIK.

MAVERIK was completed within almost the first construction; it was simple in both concept and design. What was not so simplistic however was trying to power it; to even put it at fifty percent would take an excruciating amount of energy that nothing short of a miracle could provide. Well in fact it would seem that miracles happen every day for just as they sat contemplating how they would manage to get MAVERIK operational a command carrier crashed not but five miles away from their base of operations. Conveniently carried on it were   twenty fully functional, plasma based nuclear warheads, an insane amount if napalm and a fare score more of other extravagant oddities in the general  are of devastating explosive devices. If not even more fortunate there were no survivors making it a successful if not almost ironic pillaging. Finally MAVERIK was completed and with nothing left to delay it, it would be revealed to the world. MAVERIK was in fact a rather large subspace, plasmatic super weapon, cable of destroying almost anything in its wake.

The word misfire was an enormous understatement to how MAVERIKS first test fire went. The idea was to start it at lower power and gradually work up to full, but it never got that far... After months of various simulations, tests, statistical work, and theorizing it was proclaimed fool proof, although l this would later prove to be an extremely flawed statement. Five minutes into the commencement of the power up cycle MAVERIK started to be come slightly unstable. All of a sudden without warning it hit a huge power spike, sky rocketing out of control. This sudden surge of energy caused the plasma coils to heat up and the generators to overload, resulting in a catastrophic explosion. The blast radius was huge and could be seen for miles around it wiped out entire cities in its wake. The intensity of the explosion grew and grew soon it was a roaring super nova nothing could stop it, it was omni consuming. It moved westward continuing to feed upon the raw life-force of the planet as it went. Finally it came to an ocean, but there was not enough to sustain it there. So running out of fuel it collapsed giving one more cataclysmic shudder rippling the surface of the planet.

After MAVERIK's chaotic nature has subsided, it left behind a trail of destruction. Desecration lay in the wake of what once was a proud land, the air wreaked of the stench of the dead. Every fiber of the earth seemed to cry out in a hauntingly  agonistic plea for mercy as it met sorrow's embrace. There would be much mourning before the day was over. An entire world destroyed in the blink of an eye...

                                                 Present Day

It is now the year 2035 and has been ten years since the war and what is now being called the MAVERIK crisis. The wreckage has been somewhat cleaned up but many areas are still living proof of MAVERIK's previous destruction. Due to the fact Akara was a fairly primitive planet to begin with, and mostly everything was wiped out in MAVERIK's explosion, there is little technology there today. What little is left is in high value and people who have technological know how are in even higher. Today there are a few large trading cites but mostly people live in small farming towns. People of these areas tend to stick together as they fear the harsh conditions beyond and whatever else may lurk in the vast beyond. Due to these facts the land is vastly uninhabited for the most part and is prone to much mystery.

As of recent a slowly growing religious group has been causing much confliction with the political factions of Akara's current government. They call themselves the Shenati  or children of the light. They claim that the government and its followers have all become corrupt and tainted with darkness, and that the only way they can possibly brought back to see the light is to be converted. Although this would not seem a problem as this sort of thing has happened throughout history it has been growing rather rash as of late. The Shenati  feel that if they are to make their point they must take a somewhat drastic action. They have spread many rumors and are stirring up the masses in Akara and on top of that have lead many rather violent protests. Technically they are doing nothing illegal according to governmental standards but they do seem to be causing somewhat of a large if not destructive disturbance. Some even rumor that the Shenati were responsible for the many mysteriously linked planet evacuations and maybe even what provoked the war on Akra.  Although it can not be proven it would seem that this group is harboring a mysterious dark secret of some sort, and is aware of something that the rest of the world is completely oblivious too.
